Plums are a relatively recent addition to the stone fruit family. 

Plums are good sources of vitamin A, vitamin C, potassium, and fiber. They contain no fat and are sodium free. Plums also contain naturally occurring phytonutrients and antioxidants that are thought to play a key role in human health.

To ripen, store plums in a paper bag at room temperature, or place them upside down on the counter, out of the sun, until ripe. Handle ripe pluots very delicately as they bruise easily. For best flavor, enjoy them as soon as they're ripe. Otherwise, you can store the ripe fruit in the refrigerator for up to four days.
